Hi all,
I'm in work so no access to some stuff but I'd like to plan a trip over to Bob Quinn Lake in the Tongass X scenery. It's listed as a 'slopped runway' so thought it would be pretty cool to fly out too.
I'd like a flight to last 40-60mins in total, but due to lack of info here I don't know where to fly from to give me that window of time. If anyone have any thoughts on where to depart then please post. Also, if you like to join in on this flight then post some days and times it would be best and I'll try and fit it to a day most people can join.

Call it 90nm east of Petersburg.
OR 117nm NE of Ketchikan according to GE
but
acording to FSX flight planner it is 201nm from Ketchikan and 165nm from Petersburg
I think

How about Bronson Creek. Its 38 miles from there to Bob Quin. But depending on what aircraft you are using that maybe too close.

Mark, if you were to wait untill we all had a bit more time we could do this.
It is a fairly easy run up to Bob Quinn from Petersburg, you just follow the river/s.
However we could stop off at Bronson Creek to pick up/drop off something, and then continue up to Bob.
Now N/NW of Bob are the other unlisted airfields of
Schaft Creek
Yehinko Lake and the 2 Galore Creeks.
You said you would like to have a look for these so we could go from Bob to say,
Schaft Creek then on to
Yehinko lake then
Telegraph Creek then a longish trip to
Kake and then a short hop home to
Petersburg
or something along these lines.
What do reckon?

My next availabilty is Sunday if you're willing to wait that long. Don't worry if you prefer to do it sooner than that though :noworry:

Sounds good. But I don't think I could do all them in one sitting

Well no it doesn't matter if we have to do it in 2 legs or even 3.
We haven't done a multi leg flight yet so let this be the first.
Lets say Sunday at 2000 BST from Petersburg and see where we get to by what time.

Sounds good, Sunday at 20:00 BST (19:00 GMT) it is then. Meet at Petersburg, don't forget that Bob Quinn Lake is actually an airfield not a seaplane base...no embarressed faces when you try and land on floats
I'll probably be flying the Carenado Cessna 182RG or the Carenado Piper Arrow III

Damn !!! You must have been watching from the cabin when I landed on Jim's lake in a British Army wheeled Beaver . (I was changing from one aircraft to another while enroute to try them out and forgot to make sure I was back in the amphib before landin :embarrest: )
See you Sunday.........and remind me to do an external preflight

Do you guys use a headset when you are on multiplayer? I would like to join you but I don't have a headset, and I don't want to go out and buy one if you all don't use them. I have a mic and I have team speak but never having done a session I am not sure if the mic is working.

Any mic will do, a head set is better as you don't have to lean towards it to speak (assuming your none head set mic is mounted on the desk). It also adds to the feeling of being in an aircraft.
As long as you can speak then it's really up to you whether it's a headset or not.

Thanks Mark, I might go out and get a head set anyway, any recommendations as to make and type?
It looks like quite a challenging flight, especially if we go via Bronsons Creek. I hope the weather is OK.

I've got a cheap pair that cost about £12 years ago. When they have died though I'm going to replace them with a USB set which have a built in sound 'card' in them. That way I can direct the TS chatter to the ear phones and have just the sim nosies coming from the PC speakers, like your have in RL really. It has the added advantage that the only thing coming through the ear phones is voices and it's not competing with engine nosies.

OK, as Richard suggests it's easy to follow the river from Petersburg to Bob Quinn Lake, I've mapped the route on this (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=56.839959,-131.665649&spn=1.436272,4.938354&t=p&z=8&msid=106848462290604953225.00046dccf564640628b0a)G oogle Map.
The whole route should be in the order of 119 statute miles or 103.5 nautical miles. Any wheeled or amphibian aircraft welcome, runway length at Bob Quinn is 4200ft so plan your aircraft accordingly, although it seems a Dash 7 can get in easily

I'm going to try planning my fuel as well so if you see me falling from the sky you know I did it wrong!

I know I organised this but I have to duck out I'm afraid. We have a local festival (http://www.visitsthelens.com/site/whats-on/st-helens-festival-2009-p231041) on this weekend and it traditionally ends in a big firework display and a promised the kids I'd go along :amuse:
Please feel free to proceed with this, it was just a private flight and I wasn't expecting anyone to acompany me.
Apologies

Well it all went a bit Pete tong. At first it was a firework display then it started raining, so all was going to be back on but eariler in the day I installed the CH config software so I could assign a button to the TS PTT button. All went well, until I then loaded the sim and the CH pedals stopped working. Apparently I had to add them to the CH config software which I did, FSX then automatically assign the pedal axis to the throttle, airilons and rudder!
I got the assignments sorted and then I couldn't get the brakes off! It was seriously getting on my wazz! I finally got it working by letting FSIPCU to do the controls but by this time Pete was coming close to the airport. I'll make the flight another night, by what he was saying on TS it was a stunning flight into the mountains so I'll definately doing it. I might make another video of it.

It didn't go well for me either.
I couldn't log onto FSHost for whatever reason.
HOWEVER I logged on this morning with no problems at all.
I don't think the problem lies with me.
Mark I understand your "conversation" anology but it went well this morning, so is there some other reason why I cannot log on when others are?
Remember the problem with myself and Ivan?
I am not technical enough to work it out but at this rate I shall always be flying on my own.

Very curious, especially when both myself and Pete logged out of FSHost last night and you still couldn't join. ???

Very curious, especially when both myself and Pete logged out of FSHost last night and you still couldn't join. ???, but Norry was still logged into multiplayer.........althouth curiously not on Teamspeak.
I'll see if I can have a look through the Q&A on the server and/or send them an email to see if they have any ideas. Can't do it for a few hours though, have to go out.
BTW: Flight report and hopefully some screenies later.

I forgot Norry was on. Anyway, I've already looked at the FAQ for FSHost, I still stand by my first theory of it being a router issue BUT on the FAQ it states if EVERYONES router isn't set up correctly then it COULD cause other players to have a problem.
As Richard only has issues when other people are connected then this could be what the problem is. I have written a sticky thread about it here: http://mistyair.net/forums/showthread.php?t=602
I think that we should as a matter of course insist that all players using the FSHost server correctly configure their router whether they are having problems or not. This should avoid problems for other players.

I was at Petersburg last night and saw Pete C depart, but I had no communication either by the chat window in FSHost client or on team speak. I also am not a computer Wiz so I am not sure what I did or didn't do.
In the chat window I saw that Mark and Pete C were in the system (although I never saw Mark). I didn't see Richard at all. I sent a couple messages but no reply.
I also logged into TS but appeared to be the only one there. My only thought is that I logged on with FS host (client) and waited on the ramp. maybe I should have logged on after the host. I haven't a clue what happened with TS.
By the way Pete how do you get your name to appear above the aircraft?

Hi Norry,
You might have been on the wrong TS server. Pete changed it a few weeks back, I fell foul the first time too. Check this for the details of the new one: Misty Air Community (http://mistyair.net/forums/showthread.php?t=463)
As for the red wording over your aircraft then it's an FSX setting, I'm at work atm so can't check but it might be on the Realisim settings tab. I think it's called AIrcraf Labels.
You might have sent messages on the FSHost, I wasn't looking to be honest, apologies

I was at Petersburg last night and saw Pete C depart, but I had no communication either by the chat window in FSHost client or on team speak:mad: Sorry about that Norry....could kick myself now, I saw you parked up at Petersburgh, but never thought that you might be on the wrong Teamspeak server (I'm surprised it's still there as I've stopped the Paypal subscription for it.) As for multiplayer, I never think of the chat box when we have Teamspeak.
Note to self: Must do better next time
